Yandere Virus Final Steam Playtest

Yandere Virus Final Steam Playtest history, access selection, published rounds, and confidentiality rules after the September 17 conclusion.

Published Checked

Quick answer: The Yandere Virus Final Steam Playtest ended September 17, 2026. The playtest was selected access, not an open demo and not the retail release. Game content, images, footage, and related information from the playtest must not be shared publicly.

Current status

Current status: Final Steam Playtest ended September 17, 2026. The developer's public update says the team moved into final release preparation after receiving footage, logs, bug reports, and suggestions from testers.

There is no public fourth-round schedule in the sources checked. If Steam or a cached result still shows a request control, treat it as historical or account-specific until a newer official notice says otherwise.

Two official September 6 selection notices describe separate first-round cohorts:

  • The solo notice says that 2,469 people applied and 50 participants were selected via Steam's random access grant for the first solo phase.
  • The multiplayer notice says that about 200 people applied, including accompanying players, and 50 participants were selected at random from the Google Form applications. Selected applicants received instructions at the email address used in the form.

Those announcements did not make all applicants eligible for every round. Do not post playtest content, screenshots, or footage publicly.

Can you still request access?

The Final Steam Playtest has ended. No newer official update reviewed for this page announces a fourth round, late-access window, or open replacement test.

If Steam still displays a request control to your account:

  1. Open the official Yandere Virus store page while signed into Steam.
  2. Find the Yandere Virus Finalplaytest section.
  3. Treat the control as a request surface, not proof that a round is active.
  4. Follow any official Steam or developer notice shown to your own account.

Do not rely on files, keys, or links posted by another player. The retail game remains a separate product state.

How are participants selected?

Official notices described selected participation rather than guaranteed admission. A request did not confirm a place in a test round, and selection notices were sent through the applicable official route.

What was the published schedule?

The September 2 announcement lists three rounds in Pacific Daylight Time (PDT, UTC−7):

RoundPublished window
Round 1September 6, 7:00 PM – September 9, 2:00 AM PDT
Round 2September 9, 7:00 PM – September 13, 2:00 AM PDT
Round 3September 13, 7:00 PM – September 17, 2:00 AM PDT

The published notice listed these participation windows for the Final Playtest rounds. The last listed window ended on September 17, 2026.

What must remain private?

The confidentiality boundary is broad. In the official announcement feed, the developer says playtest game content, images, footage, and related information must not be disclosed publicly. The announcement specifically prohibits publishing footage on video or streaming platforms, social media, online communities, or other public channels.

Participants should follow the developer's official submission instructions if selected. Public sharing of playtest content, images, footage, and related information is prohibited.

This guide uses only public store text and public developer announcements. It does not reproduce private test material.

Next steps for selected testers

Selected participants should keep following the submission and confidentiality instructions provided by the developer. This guide does not reproduce private testing procedures. Never send account credentials, Steam passwords, or unrelated personal files.

Does playtest access include the full game?

Access to a temporary test build was not the same as the retail game being released. The full game remains planned for September 21, 2026. See Release Date & Availability for the product state.

Playtest safety checklist

If a test build remains visible in your account history, confirm that the entitlement belongs to your own account and follow instructions delivered through the official selection route rather than files, keys, or links posted by another player. A request to join did not create an entitlement, and selected access does not authorize public screenshots, clips, streams, or copied test details. If the test is unavailable, wait for an official notice instead of treating the result as proof of a retail-release delay or a permanent account fault.
